I have always had a passion for interiors and having renovated and redesigned several of my own homes over the years, I found that I was often being asked for my advice by friends. After taking a career break from the airline industry in 2001 I decided to take the plunge and retrain as an Interior Designer.
In 2004/5 I studied at the KLC School of Design in Chelsea and qualified as an Interior Designer.
Since then I have taken on a variety of projects in Kent, East Sussex, Buckinghamshire and London. The scope of projects has ranged from a single room to entire large house renovations which have included project management of all the builders, tradespeople, landscapers and technology providers. Some of my clients have excellent taste and some clear ideas of what they want but lack the time to tackle the work and at other times the client is looking for inspiration and someone to interpret their needs and finds the range of choices of colours, fabrics, furnishings and ‘looks’ bewildering; my job is to make it a simpler, less stressful, less time-consuming process.
I don’t have a ‘house style’ my job is to work with the client to make their home feel as if they had designed it themselves because it feels comfortable, fits their personality and meets their practical needs – living in a beautifully designed interior is great, but only if it also feels like your home.
Depending on the scale of project you may be working with your interior designer for many months so it’s important to choose someone you feel comfortable working with. That is why I don’t charge for initial consultations because it gives you the chance to make sure we can work together. I am also always happy to provide client references if required.
